About the PDF to PNG
PNG is the right format when the page is mostly text, a diagram, a chart or a screenshot — anything made of sharp edges and flat colour. JPEG's compression works by smoothing away detail the eye supposedly will not miss, and around the edge of a letter that assumption is wrong: text converted to JPEG comes out visibly soft and haloed.
PNG is lossless, so a page rendered at a given resolution is exactly what the renderer drew. Nothing is approximated and there is no quality setting to get wrong.
The cost is size. A photograph rendered as PNG is often several times larger than the same page as JPEG, so for pages that are mainly pictures the other tool is the better choice. For text and line art PNG is usually both smaller and better.
Resolution is yours to choose. Ninety-six dpi for screen use, a hundred and fifty for most purposes, three hundred when the image is going into print or needs to survive being zoomed into. A page is rendered at the scale you ask for, not upscaled afterwards, so 300 dpi really is three hundred dots per inch of detail.
Pages are drawn on your device by a renderer served from this site, with no third party involved and nothing uploaded.
