About the PNG to PDF

PNG is what a screenshot is, which makes this the tool for turning a sequence of captures into a document: a bug report, a step-by-step guide, a record of a conversation, proof that something was on screen on a particular day.

Several images become one PDF, one image per page, in the order you arrange them. Order matters more here than with photographs — screenshots tell a story, and a set that arrives shuffled is useless.

Page size and margins are yours to choose. For screenshots, automatic orientation is usually right: each page turns to match its image, so a wide screenshot fills a landscape page instead of sitting as a strip in the middle of a portrait one. Small margins keep the detail as large as possible.

Images are placed at full resolution and scaled to the page, so small text in a screenshot stays readable when someone zooms in. PNGs are converted to JPEG on the way in, since that is what PDF carries efficiently — a screenshot embedded losslessly would produce a file several times larger, and the difference is not visible at document scale.

The PDF is assembled in your browser. For screenshots of internal tools, private conversations or anything not yet public, nothing being uploaded is not a small detail.

Frequently asked questions

Will my screenshots still be readable?
Yes. Images are placed at their full resolution and scaled to fit the page, so zooming in shows the original detail. Choosing no margins gives each image the most room.
Can I mix PNG with other formats?
Yes — JPG, WebP and HEIC can go into the same document. Captures from different devices rarely all arrive in the same format, so mixing them is the normal case rather than the exception.
Does PNG transparency survive?
No. Transparent areas are flattened onto white, because a PDF page is white paper. For a screenshot this is invisible; for a logo with a transparent background it means the background becomes white.
What page size should I use?
A4 or Letter with automatic orientation for anything that might be printed. Fit to image when the PDF is only ever going to be read on a screen, since it avoids letterboxing an unusual aspect ratio.
Are my screenshots uploaded?
No. The PDF is assembled in your browser. Screenshots often show internal tools, private conversations or unreleased work, so that matters.
