Hashtag Counter
Count your hashtags, and find the ones that will silently do nothing.

Your caption or hashtags
No hashtags yet
Paste a caption and each hashtag is counted and checked against what every platform allows.
Nothing here is sent anywhere — the counting happens as you type. This tool does not suggest hashtags, because any list it invented would be guesswork dressed up as data.
About the Hashtag Counter
Counting hashtags by eye goes wrong quickly once there are more than a handful, and every platform has a different limit — thirty on Instagram and TikTok, fifteen on YouTube, none at all on X beyond what looks reasonable. This counts them and shows where you stand against each one.
The more useful half is the checking. A hashtag ends at the first character that is not a letter, a number or an underscore, so <code>#new-york</code> is really the tag <code>#new</code> and <code>#best.of.2026</code> is <code>#best</code>. Platforms do not warn you about this; they just quietly index the truncated version. A caption can look thoroughly tagged and reach nobody through any of them.
A hashtag made only of numbers does not work either, which catches out anyone tagging a year. And repeats are flagged, because hashtags are matched without regard to case — <code>#Travel</code> and <code>#travel</code> are the same tag, and using both wastes one of your thirty.
Non-Latin hashtags work fine, including scripts built from letters plus combining marks like Devanagari, Arabic and Thai. A checker that allowed only letters and digits would wrongly reject most of the world's ordinary hashtags.
What this deliberately does not do is suggest hashtags. Any list it produced would be invented rather than measured, and a made-up list of popular tags presented as data is worse than no list at all.
